Configure the Gateway IP Settings

Record the current Windows network configuration, enter the customer-approved static IPv4 settings and verify that the gateway can reach the BMS network.

Never guess an IP address. Obtain the subnet, available static IP, gateway, DNS and VLAN details from the customer or site IT team before making changes.

Follow the diagrams in filename order to configure a Windows gateway safely and retain a clear rollback path.

  1. 01

    Record the current network settings

    Step 1: record the current Windows IPv4 address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS and adapter details
  2. 02

    Confirm the customer BMS IP range

    Step 2: confirm the customer BMS subnet and approved static IP settings
  3. 03

    Open Windows network settings

    Step 3: open Windows advanced network settings and network adapter options
  4. 04

    Select the correct Ethernet adapter

    Step 4: identify and select the Ethernet adapter connected to the BMS network
  5. 05

    Open IPv4 properties

    Step 5: open Internet Protocol Version 4 properties for the selected Ethernet adapter
  6. 06

    Enter the static IP settings

    Step 6: enter the approved static IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS settings
  7. 07

    Save changes and reconnect the adapter

    Step 7: save the IPv4 changes and reconnect the Windows Ethernet adapter
  8. 08

    Verify with ipconfig and ping

    Step 8: verify the new gateway network settings with ipconfig and ping

    Troubleshooting and rollback

    Step 9: troubleshoot gateway connectivity and restore the original network settings when needed
